WELCOME TO

THE CAROLINA SOUTHERN DIVISION

of the

Mid Eastern Region, National Model Railroad Association

MEMBER ACTION REQUIRED!!!

During our annual meeting on February 6th, the Carolina Southern Division voted to incorporate the Division. Posted here are the proposed revised Bylaws for your review. These new Bylaws are to better define the Division's role and are required as we pursue formal incorporation of the Division. Members are requested to review these revised Bylaws and provide any comments to our new Assistant Superintendent, Bob Halsey at by March 15, 2010. They will be voted on at our March meeting. For comparison, the current Bylaws are here.

The Carolina Southern is a division of the Mid-Eastern Region of the National Model Railroad Association.  Our membership includes all NMRA members in the North Carolina counties of Cabarrus, Catawba, Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln, Mecklenburg, Rowan, Stanly, and Union. If you are not a member of the NMRA, take a look at our Join Now page to see how you can take full advantage of all the challenges and excitement of the World's Greatest Hobby, Model Railroading.

Some of our key features here are ...

bullet It's called the   Carolina Southern Rail Ops Weekend . The 2010 edition will be held the weekend of October 15-17. More information is available here. The first weekend in this series was held the October 9-11, 2009. Use this link for more information on last year's event.
bullet Our acclaimed Railroad Modeling University(RMU). The 2010 session was postponed until February 6, 2010 in Charlotte as indicated above. The next session has not been scheduled. Click here or on RM University on the Site Menu for more details on what the RMU is and a report on activities during previous sessions. Check back for details as planning for our 2011 session progresses.
bullet If you are interested in some online "How To..." check out our Modeling Backshops feature. Here you will find helpful tutorials from our members on various aspects of building and maintaining a model railroad.
bullet You can use our 2010 Calendar of local events and our Local Model Railroading Clubs and Hobby Shops listings to connect with other ferroequinologists (Iron Horse modelers and fans) and get your supplies.
bullet You can check out all the latest updates on the Site Updates page.

And now for the commercial...

The Carolina Southern Division strives to:

bullet Instruct, aid, and assist model railroaders in our area in fulfilling their enjoyment of model railroading as a hobby;
bullet Promote model railroading especially in our Carolina Southern Division area by sponsoring model railroad events, including conventions, meets, clinics, and contests; and
bullet Promote model railroading in general through participation in the Mid Eastern Region (MER) and National Model Railroad Association, Inc. (NMRA).

To advance these goals, we have a program to help folks get started.  Check out the Help Page for a link to your personalized help.  There's lots of experience waiting at your fingertips.

Another way we promote the hobby of model railroading is in helping to preserve existing layouts. Our current preservation project is a large HO display layout in the town of Brookford, NC, just to the south of Hickory. More information is on our Train Town page.
